Proverbs of a 41 yr. old man

A little Angry. Encore is Savage! People are living a lie, and they are angry about it. God is too. He has indignation everyday against the wicked. Evil and sin is ruining people's lives now and for eternity. What you do now in this life and what you believe now affects every part of you. God allows people to live in delusion and grandeur, while still showing his love and grace giving rain to both the good and the bad. But practicing righteousness matters, the fleeting pleasures of sin are a moment, but its destruction is a lifetime. We need the Spirit of Truth to be permeating our hearts to keep us from sin and folly. People are angry because sin is not satisfying. And they blame God because he allowed it. Even in a freewill world there is the equalizer of Justice. God will not sacrifice the truth for our sinful pleasures. No, he gives his life as a sacrifice so that we would live for him and not for ourselves. He is restoring our broken world day by day until the last day. Till then, stay away from the wrath of God. Be angry, but do not continue in sin. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. As I close, I want to remind you that The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation. Amen. In view of this, remember Gods ways are so high above ours so that we cannot understand the power of his love. He will reap burning coals on our heads even though we may be right in our anger and disgust over certain situations. The LORD Jesus wants us to have that indignation for sin also with an eternal love that never fails within us. It's a holy tension we must live with knowing God is justice and merciful. It's the beauty of the love of Christ through the ages that has wooed all men to himself. Follow along with me in the story of Jonah preaching to Nineveh about judgment and repentance. Starting in Jonah 3:6 When the king of Nineveh heard what Jonah was saying, he stepped down from his throne and took off his royal robes. He dressed himself in burlap and sat on a heap of ashes. Then the king and his nobles sent this decree throughout the city: “No one, not even the animals from your herds and flocks, may eat or drink anything at all. People and animals alike must wear garments of mourning, and everyone must pray earnestly to God. They must turn from their evil ways and stop all their violence. Who can tell? Perhaps even yet God will change his mind and hold back his fierce anger from destroying us.” When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened. Continuing in Jonah Chapter 4:1 This change of plans greatly upset Jonah, and he became very angry. So, he complained to the LORD about it: “Didn’t I say before I left home that you would do this, LORD? That is why I ran away to Tarshish! I knew that you are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You are eager to turn back from destroying people. Just kill me now, LORD! I’d rather be dead than alive if what I predicted will not happen.” The LORD replied, "Does being angry make you right?" Then Jonah went out to the east side of the city and made a shelter to sit under as he waited to see what would happen to the city. And the LORD God arranged for a leafy plant to grow there, and soon it spread its broad leaves over Jonah’s head, shading him from the sun. This eased his discomfort, and Jonah was very grateful for the plant. But God also arranged for a worm! The next morning at dawn the worm ate through the stem of the plant so that it withered away. And as the sun grew hot, God arranged for a scorching east wind to blow on Jonah. The sun beat down on his head until he grew faint and wished to die. “Death is certainly better than living like this!” he exclaimed. Then God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry because the plant died?” “Yes,” Jonah retorted, “even angry enough to die!” Then the LORD said, “You feel sorry about the plant, though you did nothing to put it there. It came quickly and died quickly. But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn’t I feel sorry for such a great city?” Amen. Gods unfailing love is better than life itself. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. It is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
