Battle Prayer Notes 3-31-13
Good morning brother,
Day three topic: A pure life. The blood of Jesus has cleansed our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God. He died so that we who receive his new life no longer live for ourselves. Instead, live for Christ who died and was raised for us. We are called to live a new life hidden in Christ. What does that mean? To live as a new creation and die to self and the your old nature. What does it mean to live a holy life before God? Let’s talk and share.
Father consume me you can use me. Breathe life into me here on this altar.
We have been bought at a high price. Honor God with your body.
Corem deo- we live in the gaze of Gods presence. We cannot do or say or think what we want. He is always watching.
We can never get away from your presence.
In order to live a pure life I must fear God.
Do we fear consequences? Are we accountable to God? Are we being obedient?
With our knowledge of God we must be always humble.
Moses was to speak to the rock and became angry. The most humblest man became angry and because of disobedience was not allowed into the promise land.
There are consequences when we do not humble ourselves.
Draw closer to God. Purify your hands. Give a quiet yes to God and live for Jesus.
2 Peter 1:3, NLT By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
The call to Holiness. The Holy Spirit in us. Oh the privilege of God allowing His Holiness to live in us.
Thank you LORD for allowing us to worship you together as brothers.
Walking in purity. Peter did not want to associate with the Gentiles. God humbled him by vision wnd showing Him the Holy Spirit comes upon the Gentiles.
David’s greatest fear was that God would take away his Holy Spirit.
Thank you LORD for finding me and bringing back to the fold. He left the 99 to find the one.
We are seeking the eternal and not the temporary. We are building our strength to move forward as a herd.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Ephesians 4:29-32 ESV
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Colossians 1:10 ESV
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Micah 6:8 ESV
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
If something is half pure it is half effectiveness. We have pure faith of gold being refined.
If I want to be effective we have to be pure.
Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away. Psalms 148:1-6
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
We want to go behind his back and think he does not see it. Live before me says the LORD.
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”
1 John 2:15-17 NIV
Live with the door of your heart wide open before God.
Consistency is definitely apart purity. Be consistently in Gods presence.
To be blessed is to live life before God.
I don’t run to the pig pen and mud as quickly as I use to.
The way out is the way up towards Christ in the newness of life.
Prayer is not our last resort. Believe in God. You are here today because you believe!
People who trust in this message of Jesus, try to live in obedience to God who wants His people to live pure lives. Jesus is our example and we try to follow him. Studying the Bible helps us to know how to live pure lives (2 Timothy 3:16). Also, God’s Holy Spirit works in our hearts making us more and more like Jesus (Philippians 2:13 and 2:21). Living in close, loving community with other Christians also helps us to live better lives (James 5:19). With all this help, many people’s lives are transformed by Jesus and so they live lives that are much purer than before.
So, when it comes down to it: God, not the world, tells us how to define purity. That’s important because culture’s definition of purity is pretty upside down. But God’s definition of purity is perfect because God is perfect. He’s holy. He is pure.
As followers of Jesus, we’re actually supposed to live pure lives, too.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
Living a pure life doesn’t just happen overnight. It’ll take a lot of decisions, a lot of prayer, and some time to get the right filters, standards, and boundaries in place.
Living a pure life is possible, but it will take some work. But putting in the work is well worth it, because you’ll be living the kind of life Jesus designed for you to have. So, set your standard. Read God’s Word. And do what it says. When you do that, you’ll be well on your way to living a better, purer life.
Standards don’t always keep you from doing the wrong thing, but they do help keep you on the right path so that you’re not as tempted to sin. So, set the standard. Decide today what boundaries will keep you out of trouble tomorrow.
Thank you for another great day of Zoom Battle Prayer.
