Oh To Be Wise Meditations
In the LORD's presence is the light of life. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, and to the place where You dwell. Why is light given to those who are in bitterness, and life to those souls which are in griefs? They long for death, and it won’t come. They search for death more eagerly than for hidden treasure. They’re filled with joy when they finally die, and rejoice when they find the grave. Why is life given to those with no future, those God has surrounded with difficulties? Jesus was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. The Light of Heaven is for all those who live in darkness. Many are content to live in darkness about from the law and word of God. The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the light of the wicked will be snuffed out. To live without God's presence is to live without the light of life. You are in utter darkness destined to oblivion without the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
