Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Learned a new word wanted to share with you. Avarice refers to an insatiable desire to gain and hoard wealth. It's similar to greed but goes even further, encompassing such things as selfishness, entitlement, materialism, consumerism, and hoarding. After reading that word and definition it brings out 1 Tim. 6:6 even more: Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. There are people that regard godliness as a means of great gain. They are discontent with the spirituality God gives them. They never have enough learning, are always reading many books rather than growing in poverty of spirit and their interior life. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. Oh the wisdom we learn from being humble and being satisfied with enough. It creates a quiet confidence within us as we learn to trust in God every day.
