Are you cultivating a tender and obedient heart? It will save you from much pain in your life. Humans are naturally self willed and are determined to do what they want despite the wishes of others. We need the discipline of God, without it we would self destruct in our own wisdom. You are not always right and many decisions you have made by yourself were a mistake. Conceited people do not like to be corrected; they never ask for advice from those who are wiser. The Lord would rather you humble yourself under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. He would rather you place yourself under spiritual authority of others whom you trust. Authority like godly parents, the church or an accountability group where you can cultivate self discipline in your life. Jesus has placed his redeemed people in a spiritual term called the body so they can grow strongly together in bone and muscle with Christ as the head. God's discipline is more than just punishment for wrongdoing. For those who call Him Lord, discipline is holy instruction and righteous training. Its a toughening and maturing that grows us into the knowledge and will of God.
