Proverbs of a 37 yr old man
You have prepared for me a sanctuary in heaven's shores. A place to rest from all the troubles and trials of this life. This world was not our home neither was it for our ancestors of faith. They died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Yes, a human sanctuary for the redeemed children of faith. A place where there is no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past will be gone forever. The people the LORD has rescued will come back singing as they enter Zion. Happiness will be a crown everyone will always wear. They will celebrate and shout because all sorrows and worries will be gone far away. Just like Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion. So will it be with the Kingdom of Heaven in the New Jerusalem. A city of peace for all those who trusted in Christ Jesus their LORD. Look, I see the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind receiving the promise of rest! I see the young, the old, the experienced, and the wise, all arriving to holy sanctuary. What makes it so holy and wonderful is that in Jesus we find our sanctuary. Won't you lead others to this great special inheritance? God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of might fail to experience it. In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.
