Proverbs of a 38 yr old man
A humble soil. We tend to think that before God can use us we need to be a better people. A more fertile soil if I may. What God needs from us is a more humble soil, that is how he does his best work. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. The LORD digs deep in the soil of our hearts and plants the seed of his word. Wanting us to receive it in humility being doers of the word and not only hearers. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. I think of the morning glory flower, it does not like its soil too fertile. It blooms a beautiful blue in its proper time, but will take longer if the soil is too fertile. Let us be like the morning glory, having a humble soil so that Christ can reap his holy word in us. We have been cleansed by the truth, let us keep our hearts pure away from the manipulation of the flesh. Yes, a more humble soil is what we need in our hearts for you Jesus.
