Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
Mature in love. As you grow in the Word you are to mature in love and avoid being puffed up. The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! We who are being saved know it is the very power of God. Growing in the knowledge of Christ is like stepping into the fog that Moses stepped into at Mt Sinai. We must continue to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. What an honor and privilege to grow and learn the mystery of Christ. This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Amen. The tendency of the flesh is to become a Pharisee or Sadducee of the faith. Acting religious but rejecting the power that could make you godly. So many people have become arrogant in their knowledge of the Word. Listen to the Apostle Paul in Col. 2:18, Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. And then 1 Cor. 4:7-10 For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not? You think you already have everything you need. You think you are already rich. You have begun to reign in God’s kingdom without us! I wish you really were reigning already, for then we would be reigning with you. Instead, I sometimes think God has put us apostles on display, like prisoners of war at the end of a victor’s parade, condemned to die. We have become a spectacle to the entire world—to people and angels alike. Our dedication to Christ makes us look like fools, but you claim to be so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are so powerful! You are honored, but we are ridiculed. Amen. God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. We have everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. Let this knowledge humble as you grow in love with Jesus and His Body the Church. Even If you had the gift of prophecy, and if you could understand all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if you had faith that could move mountains, but didn’t love others, you would be nothing.
