Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
Why is it the more money we make the less we trust in God? And the less money we make to actually still love God? Well, if you have lots of money you are called by God to steward it well. Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment. For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. You have condemned and killed innocent people, who do not resist you. Amen. When we have a lot of money we start to trust in our resources rather than Gods Sovereignty. Now if you are poor in this world, it is easy to wonder if God even cares about you. But listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap. He seats them among princes and bestows on them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD's, and upon them He has set the world. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Amen. When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Yes, Jesus the more money I make the more I should love and trust you. And in times of poverty, I need to learn contentment and grace. Your Word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against you.
