Proverbs of a 40 yr old man

There are times when we have to step out in faith. We may not know what will happen. But know this though: Your God is alive. Jesus is living and active in your life and wants you to have faith in Him. In Joshua 3:9-10 Joshua said to the Israelites, Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. He will show you that he is with you. He will show you how powerful he is. He will certainly remove these nations from this land: the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. Amen. If you read on, the priests were to carry the ark before the people and step into the strong currents of the Jordan River to make it stop so that they can cross over into dry land. Joshua and his people were faced with a risk. They needed to cross the dangerous, flood-swollen Jordan. God had previously opened the Red Sea when the people had to cross it, but this time the priests had to step into the water first and trust the Lord to open the way as they went. They had to get their feet wet and trust that God would honor their faith. Many Christians dislike taking risks. They want the way opened before they move out for God. Often He graciously honors their desire. But we must remember that a risk is only a risk if God doesn’t go with you. We need to step out and trust that God will confirm our faith at the appropriate time. If your way seems blocked today, step forward by faith. Be willing to get your feet wet and then wait for God to respond. God honors wet feet, not cold feet. So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. We can approach God’s throne of grace with confidence unlike the Israelites who were to remain a certain distance from the Ark of Covenant. We have the Spirit of Christ our High Priest, living in us and moving in us to accomplish his great purpose for our lives. So then, go now to receive mercy and find grace to help in your time of need. Have faith in God. The LORD is with us and in us. His Spirit will lead and move you. Trust and obey there is no other way.
