Oh To Be Wise Meditations
The fruit of holiness. We are to be holy like He is Holy. What are after when we strive for perfection? Is it just to gain approval from God? Is it just to live in wisdom and truth? While these are great things to pursue, above all we should be working hard at allowing Holy Spirit to birth in the us the peaceable fruit of righteousness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Tomorrow I will touch on more about spiritual discipline and we should pursue it with all diligence. But today the peaceable fruit of righteousness is what I want to reflect on. This is the fruit of Holiness, Christ in us the hope of glory. A new heart and mind transformed by the saving power of Jesus our LORD. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Without Christ all we could produce is sin and death. Having a saving relationship with Jesus, we can now reap the fruit of eternal life, even in this life we are living here on earth. Genuine righteousness leads to life, but the pursuit of evil brings death. Little by little, faith by faith, Christ Righteousness is transforming our fallen lives. We have been born again to bear fruit for His Holy Kingdom. So pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Becoming more like Jesus every day, lets allow Holy Spirit to make us holy. And this through spiritual discipline which we will go over tomorrow. It all comes down to this question about holiness? Is Jesus LORD over your life? To Be Continued...
