Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong. Yes, the truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it. Read these quotes at a restaurant and it made me think about the people of Israel and there journey to the promise land. It was there at the oasis of Marah that the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah (which means “bitter”). Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded. So Moses cried out to the LORD for help, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink. It was there at Marah that the LORD set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him. He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.” Want to take about this week the blessing of obedience. There is a lot to cover so lets take a slow walk through it. So there the LORD presented to them a statute and an ordinance, and there he tested them. God in Christ has given us the gift of faith. And as we trust God and obey we walk in the blessing of Christ life for us. All our best efforts and hard work bear nothing compared to the newness of life offered to us in Jesus. As we learn to obey and submit to the Spirit of Christ. Holy Spirit begins to bear fruit in our life for godliness and holiness. The Upward Call of Christ is a huge sacrifice but it is a blessing beyond compare if we seek obedience to God. The hardest part of our salvation is to have faith. Praise God it is not something we earn but walk in. The blessing of obedience comes to those who live in the light as He is in the Light. We will expound more later, but for today focus on the gift of faith through grace. Trust and obey there is no other way. The harder way is the right way, you will find that out over time.
