Proverbs of a 39 yr old man
Only the godly can take an insult and turn it into a blessing, a true peacemaker and innovator of peace. They don't repay evil for evil. They don't retaliate with insults when people insult them. Instead, they pay these people back with a blessing. That is what God has called us to do, and he will grant us his blessing. For even Christ did not try to please himself. But as the Scriptures say, "The people who insulted you also insulted me." Count it a blessing when you suffer for being a Christian. This shows that God's glorious Spirit is with you. Hear the LORD say: “Listen to me, you who know right from wrong, you who cherish my law in your hearts. Do not be afraid of people’s scorn, nor fear their insults. For the moth will devour them as it devours clothing. The worm will eat at them as it eats wool. But my righteousness will last forever. My salvation will continue from generation to generation.”
